Frequently Asked Questions

Why?

I’ve been writing pieces of this for years—fragments, memories, half-formed scenes. I always said I was going to make a book out of it, but it never felt like the right time. Eventually, it just started to take shape on its own. I finally followed through. That’s really all there is to it.

Where are you at in the process?

The book is written. I’m in the final stages—doing edits, shaping it up, making it as honest and clean as I can. I’ll be looking for early readers soon. If you’re interested in a sneak peek and don’t mind rough edges, keep an eye out.

Is it all true?

It’s a book about memory. So, yes and no. The stories are rooted in real experiences, but memory is slippery. I did my best to tell the truth, or at least a truth that felt honest.

Is this just another war book?

I hope not. Better writers have already tackled the tactics and politics and sweeping narratives. This isn’t that. This is smaller. Personal. It’s about the long tail of experience—what sticks, what fades, and what you carry even after you think you’ve put it down.
